It’s hard to get mustangs to pose – even when they’re in front of a glorious background.
Those are the La Sal Mountains in Utah, and they’re covered with fresh snow from the last snowstorm.
The dun mare in the photos is Jif (to clarify, she’s a “peanut-butter dun” – I’m not making that up). Also in the photos is her silver-dun daughter, Angeni (4 years old), and her bay son Phoenix (5.5 months old). Jif has a sorrel son still wild in Spring Creek Basin: Hayden. He has his own family, including a colt born this year – Hondo – making Jif a grandma. Phoenix is about two and a half months older than his nephew. 🙂
The sires of all three of Jif’s offspring are grey … but they’re all different greys!
Despite the cold of winter, we look forward to the season here in the high desert because winter brings snow, and snow means moisture.
And snowy mountains look glorious behind gorgeous mustangs!
